Mariano Fortuny, the famous Venetian inventor and textile designer, renowned for the style of pleating that he and his wife invented and produced from 1907 - 1949. When Fortuny died in 1949 he took his secret to pleating to his grave. No one is exactly sure how he created his famous silk pleats, and they have never been reproduced since.

Wanting to solve the mystery of how Mariano Fortuny created his famous pleating process and after years of research Delphi Pleating has invented a way to beautifully reproduce the famous Fortuny pleat. The indicative mark of Fortuny pleating is the tiny 1/8 inch (3mm) pleat with the wavy vertical line and a knife edge. Each pleat is hand placed and no two pleats are identical, which gives it its amazing character.

This type of pleating can not be mass produced, and the gowns we create are entirely hand sewn. Our gowns are pleated and constructed in Los Angeles by Greg Aprahamian. They are a one of a kind creation and signed by the artist that creates them.

If you reside in the Los Angeles California area and want to see and try on one of our gowns , please contact us at propitup1@yahoo.com and we would be happy to set up an appointment for you see the beauty of our pleating and gowns with your own eyes.
